The government has started distribution of cheques worthsh1.5 first half of the presidential bursary kitty to orphans and vulnerable students in Kasipul and KabondoKasipul constituencies.

The money which is shared equally by the two constituencies is expected to benefit 225 students from poor households in the 2016/2017 financial year.

“There are 113 beneficiaries in Kabondo Kasipul and 112 in Kasipul constituencies,” said Caleb Ochor, Rachuonyo South Sub county children officer.

He said the exercise of disbursing the cheques started today and is expected to end by Friday

The officer said there were an overwhelming number of applicants for the bursary but the money could not be enough.

Mr. Ochor speaking to KNA in his office Wednesday said students in boarding school from the two constituencies were given sh 9500 while those in days school were allocated a maximum of sh 6000 through the constituency social assistance committees.

Last year the students in boarding schools got sh 6,730 each while those in day schools got sh5, 000 each
