The Nation Council of (NGO) has urged NGOs to positively contribute to peaceful co-existence of Kenyans ahead of the next general Elections in August 2017.
The council chairman Stephen Cheboi said that the NGOs in Kenya have done a commendable job in complementing Government efforts in Development and promoting peace.
The Council said that the NGO ‘s has been in the forefront in the provision of Civic Education on key issues of National communities interests, supporting Health sector provision of Water to communities, supporting education of Education of bright and poor children and education.
The NGO’s, the Cheboi observed have also boosted Environmental conversations, Climate change mitigations, championing for human rights, carrying out Research and dissemination for public benefit championing for Gender related and development by working for children’s rights, poverty alleviation and training programmes
“We call on the Government to support the good work NGOs and CBOs by celebrating them around the country,” said Cheboi.
The Chair was speaking in Nairobi yesterday said that few NGOs out of over 10,000 registered may not be doing the a good work as result of many challenges but that should not be an excuse for blanket condemnation.
