Residents of Kabondo East in Rachuonyo East Sub County are reeling in shock after a mob killed three suspected cattle thieves in the area.
The mob killed the suspects who they accused of being behind a spate of cattle thefts that has hit neighbouring Nyakach. The angry mob hunted the suspects one-by-one.
A 45 year old man was killed on Sunday at Nyapalo Kakangutu East while the second suspect was identified by police as Kodheck Agwenge also, 45 years old was killed near Lwanda School in Miriu sub location.
The third suspect only identified by his nickname as Mzee Leo was lynched outside his house on Saturday at midday as two houses belonging to suspects were torched at Otondo and Rongopala.
Rachuonyo South OCPD Patrick Onsando has however clarified that no cases of cattle thefts had been reported in the region adding that none of the suspects was found with any stolen animal.
He condemned the killing of the suspects and urged the residents to report such cases to the security agencies for appropriate action.
He called on the people to cooperate with security apparatus to curb insecurity and cattle rustling in the region.
However, there has been a lull in incidences of cattle rustling in the area since last year December when the last of such incident was witnessed with two people escaping lynching after a stolen cow was found in their butchery ready for slaughter.
